Karun, works as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Birmingham Dental Hospital. In addition, he is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Restorative at the University of Birmingham. After graduating with distinction from Manipal Academy, India, Karun worked in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery whilst completing his American National Dental Boards. On returning to the U.K, he completed an MSc in Prosthetic Dentistry from the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute, University College London. He then completed his Consultant Training in Restorative Dentistry at the Birmingham Dental Hospital

Karun has extensive experience in the treatment of complex restorative case including management of tooth wear and the failing dentition. He has treated many advanced Prosthodontic cases requiring occlusal rehabilitation with fixed or removable prosthesis of partially and edentulous patients with or without dental implants rehabilitation. Karun has a keen interest in management of failed root canal treatment and provision of Endodontic treatment of teeth with complex anatomy with both orthograde and surgical approach. His specialisation in all the sub-specialties of Restorative Dentistry, places him in a strong position to deal with patients that require complex Restorative-Endodontic and Restorative-Periodontology treatments. Karun has further advanced his clinical skills in Dental Implantology, in particular cases requiring significant multidisciplinary input such as dental trauma and hypodontia, using various hard and soft tissues augmentation techniques.

Good clinical leadership, focusing on patient care and achieving clinical excellence are all priorities for Karun. He aspires to improve confidence and aesthetics for patients who are referred to St Edward Street Dental Practice. He believes strongly that every patient should be able to make an informed decision, knowing his or her options and limitations of treatment, before embarking on treatment.

Karun has published and lectured nationally and internationally and has refereed papers in several peer-reviewed journals. Karun teaches Undergraduate dental students at the School of Dentistry in Birmingham and is a Clinical Postgraduate Trainer for Speciality Trainees. Karun has won multiple awards throughout his career and was previous Chairperson of the Specialist Registrar Restorative group [SRRDG]. He is the current Chair of the Managed Clinical Network in Restorative Dentistry of the West Midlands region.

Karun is a member and examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is affiliated with the British Society of Restorative Dentistry, the British Society of Prosthodontics, the British Society of Endodontics, the British Society of Periodontology, Restorative Dentistry UK, and International Team for Implantology (ITI).

In his spare time, he plays Cricket, Badminton, Tennis and Squash. He loves spending quality time and travelling with his daughter

Karun has a keen interest in periodontology and mucogingival surgical procedures including dental implantology.  He has written extensively in national and international journals and also refereed papers in Dental Update and British Dental Journal. He teaches regularly to undergraduates and postgraduates having provided various national and international courses. Karun was also the past Chairperson of Specialist Registrar society in Restorative Dentistry and has organised national conference and study days. He is currently chairperson of Managed Clinical Network for Restorative Dentistry in West Midlands. In his spare time, he has passion for sports such as Cricket, Badminton and Squash. He also loves spending quality time with his daughter and travelling.
